I saw this quote and thought it was so appropriate for what is going on in our economy today. We have been a country borrowing and spending more than we earn. We have essentially been getting “something for nothing”. Until now. And I think it is true that this is a lesson for all of us. It makes me think of that expression, “No such thing as a free lunch.” And while it sounds pessimistic, I think it also helps to be aware that we have to work for what we want in this life.
